California LIDAR ticket

I was ticketed for speeding by a CHP officer using LIDAR - the ticket was given at 9pm on the 101 north of Ventura next to the ocean an extremely overcast night - I was in the right lane in a pack of cars all doing the same speed - I was under the impression that LIDAR does not work well at night or in overcast conditions - any suggestions?
