    Angry seat belt ticket

I am in NYS, cops were in street stopping cars for reg. checks. I was about 30 feet away from them when they started waving to me to pull over. The cop was so nasty to me "give me you lisense and registation" I asked what I did wrong and he told me I wasn't wearing a seat belt BUT I clearly was. I asked him how he could say that??? and he told me that his sargent saw me not wearing it, but I was... I don't know where his sargent was But how could he give me a ticket saying no seat belt when I had it on, but his sargent where ever he was said I wasn't wearing it. The truth is I had it on the whole time I never get in a car without it it's 2nd nature to me.

There isn't much you can do if they claimed they saw you not wearing your seat belt, in court it will be your word against the officers; you guess who the judge will believe. Remember, with these checks officers do sit down a few blocks or on the street in plain cloths and radio in suspected violators; maybe they DID think your seat wasn't on and got aggervated when you claim others. Either way your out the cost of the parking ticket.

Well i was talking home, and 2 of my friends saw me and offered me a ride home. Some oil leaked on the back seat so I had to sit sideways without a seatbelt. It was literally 3 seconds later that we passed by a cop who somehow saw me out of the tiny back window. The only time I don't wear a seatbelt and I get nailed with a ticket.

Now this is the first time I've ever gotten a ticket and im kinda lost at what to do. The cop told me to set a date in court where he "might not show up", thank god he was a nice person at least. Tips? The back of the ticket kinda confuses me.

    Thanks

You should always wear your seatbelt to be able to avoid to receive a violation although wearing a seatbelt is for your own safety
