DWAI and 4 DUS's in Colorado(Long)
So yeah, I'm in a very low place right now. Feel pretty terrible in all sense of the word. This has thrown me into a 4 year depression and its getting really bad just recently.
I was away in college in 2005(19 at the time). It was February 14th, after being taken home, I decided since it was snowing and I couldn't listen to loud music in the dorms, i'd do it in my car. After about 20 minutes decided to drive. I was drunk but I am very in control at all times and being away at college I had a very high tolerance.
Anyway, the town is VERY small and no body was on the roads. I ended up getting pulled over. DWAI and 5 days in county jail for a .254.
After losing my license for a year, I moved to Littleton to start working since I quit school(to pay my debt.)
I got pulled over again about 8 months into the year. Let me tow my car to my house. Got a DUR(driving under restriction.)
Lost my license for another year at that point and didn't even know how to get it back.
I got pulled over again about 8 months later, let me go, but I got the ticket.
Still being very stupid and young, I got pulled over again after another 6 or so months. That time they towed my truck, couldn't get it out due to be broke again. Lost the truck.
Every time I got pulled over they restarted my year to get my at that time RED license. I still needed to get to work. I didn't make enough to relocate or quit. At the time I was only 20. During all of these tickets, I was never once intoxicated or even close. I have never drank and driven since.
Just a few weeks ago, After 2 years, I got pulled over. I didn't signal before changing lanes(which I did but for only a second.) Before this recent ticket I was able to get a red license but in order to do so I had to have a breathalizer in my car. I had everything finished except getting the breathalizer in the car and sending away the paperwork. I had finally paid everything off. I needed to get to work. Worst decistion obviously.
So here I am, 4 years later and I still have no license and after ticket 3 I was told I would be a habitual traffic offender if I got another. I was also told it'll be a mandatory 30 days in jail. I really have no idea where to start. I know I need a lawyer and i'll be getting one but I'm losing sleep, my work is suffering, my family life is suffering. I need SOMETHING.
ALSO!, I just remembered. I got pulled over on a moped, yes... A moped. It was under 50cc's and they threw me in jail. Made me pay a bunch of fines then threw out the case. I'm not sure if the DMV considered that as a ticket but it happened. It was between 3 and my most current one.
I'm sure i've left a little out and it may not make sense but please let me know what is going to happen to me and if there is anything I can do at this point besides NOT driving. I just need to figure this out. I'm tired of this. It physically makes me ill when I think about it.
Thanks

I didn't wanna edit the above post because its a mix of a lot of confusing info as it is.
NOT that it matters to anyone really but just so its known. I am a pure bred car nut. I work on them, restore them, love them, It consumes everything about me. I can't stay away even when I can't drive them. I watch them every chance I get. It's honestly my life. It's what drives me(no pun) every day.
I just wanted it to be known.... I'd do anything to have my license back tomorrow. ANYTHING. I might even let them cut off a finger... seriously. I'm so tired of not being able to do 90% of what cars are all about! It's the reason I'm feeling so low... fyi.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation; you need to stay out of a vehicle until you can legally drive it, or you'll keep getting into more and more trouble. Most likely you'll have to do the 30 days in the "county" jail; which isn't like a prison. I'm not saying the county jail is a walk in the park, but it's nothing compared to what goes on inside of actual prisons. Maybe, an attorney can prevent it; but if your habitual maybe you do need these 30 days to learn your lesson... sorry to say.

You know, a cop said an interesting thing to me once. He said, "there are people who drive their whole lives without a violation." You know the rules--stop breaking them.
You need to stay off the PUBLIC roads until you clear all this up. If you love cars so much, build a racer and get a FRIEND to drive you to track days. You need to get your behavior in line...Cool article: Can Bankruptcy Stop Foreclosure? | Riverside Bankruptcy Lawyer

I feel bad for you. The circle is tough to break. You need to drive to live in society. Especially in Colorado. If you were in a big city like New York you could get by with public transportation. I think the laws on DUIs and DWAIs are way too harsh and the system must change. There are more important things to deal with IMO. Wish you the best!

Your situation is really very confusing.....I think you should better stay away of Public roads otherwise you'll get into more troubles or you should better speak with a good attorney in your city.

Wow!
It sounds to me like the road you are heading down is a dead end street. You need to figure your life out and stop driving when your license is revoked. The DMV does not take kindly to people who drie while their license is revoked in Colorado or any state for that matter.
When you do get your license back, the DMV will require you to file proof of financial responsibility with them before they will reinstate your license. The financial responsibility is in the form of an SR22 insurance policy.
Make sure that you pay your premiums on time when you get your SR22, because if there is a lapse in your coverage, your insurance provider will immediately inform the DMV of the lapse and the DMV will once again revoke your license and then you will have to go through the SR22 filing all over again.

Hi
I got a DWAI last January. The 6 month revocation period is over and I want to get a new license. My revoked license expired on my birthda which was in April. My parents told me that I don't need to go through the whole fiasco of bringing identifications again since I had a previous license. Problem is the judge took my old license when I was convicted. What do I do?

As much as you don't want to hear "stop driving", Stop Driving!! You can say "I Love Cars and can't get enough of them but do you really want to go to jail for it? Follow the rules and you can do what you want, break the rules and you will be going through this forever.....probably with worse consequences every time!
Good Luck,
Lexy
