Default Invest in Real Estate or Stocks???

I have some amount of earnings apart from the ones that I save for my necessities. I want the earnings invested in some real estate or may be in stocks. I do have some knowledge on stocks but, earlier my cousin had invested in the stocks and had a set-back. I know that you need to be updated in that but – What is a better option from the two???

Default Invest in Real Estate or Stocks???

Real Estate or Stocks ---- I would prefer real estate just for the sake that I don’t know much about the stocks ….. but as the case with your cousin goes …. I would advice you to have some investments in the real estate market as the place is at a boom now and you may get good returns for the investments there. Being updated on the stock market is a must for investments there but I find investment a risk in the stock market.

Maybe you can help me as well, Haiken. I would like to invest in some property abroad (escpecially Germany). The problems I have are the following. Will I face any difficulties as a US citizen if I invest in Germany? Are there any requirements that I have to clarify before? My second problem is that I don't know how to invest because all I could find about property in Germany is this and I have no idea if this site is trustworthy or not. So if you or someone else could shed some light on this topic for me, I would be more than thankful.

Hi there,

This is an interesting question, i know here in miami home prices have soared an absurd amount in the last 3 years. So much so that they are basically unaffordable to most working people, and outside investors are buying up lots of them. However the common fear alot of would-be buyers I see now (those who can afford the properties at their inflated prices), is that the market for homes will crash (they envision it as a stock market crash, when in reality its more like what Brad said). The biggest risk I see in these hot markets for realestate is that the prices flatten, and all those people who bought these second or third homes to flip them are caught with their hands in the cookie jar, and they can’t make a profit on their investment, then they realize they can’t afford to hold onto these houses for another few years till the market rebounds…

Real Estate and Stocks both are actually good investment. It is totally up to you to choose from this. If you have some idea on stocks and mutual funds, You can easily earn lot of money.

Hi,

I totally agree with you.

I also believe that its better to invest in real estate than stock market. Its little bit risky to invest in stock.

I also agree with both of you OK, stock market is risky but very often it more profitable then real estate market, so if you want to gain more money you have to take a risk. and it is interesting what do you mean by saying investment in real estate? because if you just ''buy'' it during years it will lose it's price, especially nowadays when this market is in a very bad situation. so, it is mean that you will ''lose'' your money that you have invested little by little during ''n'' period
