If you get into an accident and sustain an injury, you must file a compensation claim for the damages. You may file the claim yourself but a personal injury lawyer can be a great help while going through the claim process. Personal injury accidents are very common and can happen any time. Following are some important factors to consider when you hire a personal injury lawyer to file for a compensation claim.
While hiring a lawyer there are many things that you should consider first, you have to make sure that you hire a lawyer who only practices in the personal injury law. You should never hire a general practitioner to represent your case. You must look the credentials of the lawyer and make sure that he is specialized in the field of law that is concerned with your claim.
Experience is another factor that you need to consider while hiring a personal injury lawyer. It is very important that you hire a professional lawyer that has dealt with similar cases earlier on in his career.
Reputation can also be an important factor while considering to hire a lawyer. A good lawyer is someone who has a good set of morale..
Trust is another criterion that you must keep in mind while hiring a lawyer. A good lawyer is one who can be trusted. If the lawyer is trust worthy he or she can represent you well because you have to explain minor details of the accident. The relationship of a client with his or her lawyer is fiduciary in nature. Therefore, trust and confidence play a major role in this aspect.
Another factor that should consider is the locality. You should hire a lawyer that is closer to the place where you live.
If you live in Toronto and want to hire a lawyer in Toronto, then you may know that there are lots of professional and experienced lawyers in Toronto. I have join this forum recently and found it very appropriate to me. If you have suffered a personal injury, you can seek compensation for the injuries suffered by making a claim. You can also approach personal injury claims specialists who can help you get compensation quickly. There are many personal injury claim lawyers who can provide the required guidance on making a claim. They can guide you to get suitable compensation.

Long court procedures and legal battle will be much easier if you hire a Personal Injury Lawyer. It helps you to stay focus on what is important - time with your injured loved one, and work more for supporting your family's needs. However, if you want to check how much progress your private lawyer has done; you may do several screening, especially on calculating Personal Injury Damages.

Do not hire a general practice attorney if the "accident" is of considerable injury. Hire an attorney (Firm) specializing in Tort Negligence. These folks have the financial resources to hire the best of investigators who work for you. These LARGE firms will work on a percentage with no up front money from you. The end result? Lets say your local solo practioner will settle for $12K because he/she does not want to go to trial against the insurance carrier's law firm.
A large Plaintiff's (your) law firm will go to court if not scare the insurance company into a large settlement prior to. The point, you don't hire a heart specialist physician to perform brain surgery.
Based on my experience (I have operated an insurance investigation firm for 30 years, vending to the largest insurance carriers in the World - I am a Juris Doctor), don't litigate against an insurance company without a large and experienced law firm. Hope this helps.

Folks: I should add something else on behalf of my legal beagle frineds. In a tort action (accident) you MUST SUFFER SOME KIND OF INJURY. Now this sounds gross at first glance. However, the more you are injured, the greater your reward or compensation for that injury.
If you suffer a scratched finger caused by the negligent act of another, the damage is not sufficient (generally) for your attorney to absorb expenses. Therefore, he/she will advise you not to pursue or must charge you an hourly rate (in most cases). Please don't blame your attorney. He/she is working for you but must also consider his/her expenses and practice.
In my experience, many attorneys are adept at their practice but lack in "bedside" manner. Too argumentative and demanding of their clients. We are taught in law school to keep it short and get to the point of the analysis of the issue. This does not work so well when explaining a "real life" issue to clients.
For instance, the other day I had a close friend ask me about forming a Will. Not thinking, I began using terms such as "issue", "class gifts", "inter vivos trusts/gifts" and God forbid "Rule against perpetuities".
He immediately told me to "knock of the legal stuff and asked me what he should do". I thought I was helping him but realized that I had lost "bedside" manner. I communicated absolutely nothing to this dear friend. (called him later and straightened it out). My, how we forget.
