    Dog Attack Causes Fracture

My parents are in chicago, visiting from india and at my brother's place (in the suburbs). This evening, when they went for walk (in the small nature trail), they were attacked by a dog which seemed to have come from one of the houses and were pushed down to the ground, which caused a fracture to my father's forearm and abrasions to my mother...they tried to get the dog away from them but couldnt...it seems there was an american guy standing a few feet away but did NOTHING when the dog attacked, but instead was laughing at this...he later called the dog and it came towards him but returned to my parents and began attacking and terrorising them again..!!!!

My father has been rushed to the ER and has been admitted for surgery tonight to fix the bones...!!!!! I am VERY ENRAGED at this and am looking at how to pursue this matter legally...My sis-in-law called the police and they are asking for the house number where my parents believe the dog came from, but my parents are not sure....

What is the best course of action apart from suing the owner of the dog for endangering the life of my parents?

Is there a way by which he could be forced to get rid of the dog and be arrested for negligience in keeping the dog on leash? PLEASE ADVISE.

If your dog attack injury occurred as the result of another's negligence or misconduct, an attorney experienced in dealing with dog attack cases may be able to achieve a settlement that will recover your medical and rehabilitation costs, both current and future.

Make sure you cooperate with the police. They may be your best help in finding out who owned the dog. If you give them the house number, they should drop by, ask the homeowners if it is their dog and do an full investigation. The police also have the ability to start the process to put the dog down. If the police can figure out who owned the dog, your parents can bring a civil lawsuit against those people. You'll need an attorney for that. www.utlawhelp.com

    Hello Everyone.
If you are a victim of a dog bite or animal attack, the owner is usually responsible. Injuries from dog bites and animal attacks can be both serious and traumatic, especially for children. Often the pet owner’s home-owners’ insurance policy will pay for a small portion of medical bills regardless of fault, but in serious cases, you will be required to prove the other parties’ negligence.
So please Take care of this.
    Thanks for sharing this posting.

You dont seems to know the owner of the dog. I dont think there are any option for you.

If you've been attacked and injured by a dog, it's in your best interest to contact a lawyer as soon as possible. When you get a lawyer quickly, more evidence may be gathered to prove your case and the dangerous dog can be stopped before it has the chance to hurt anyone else.
