Default COBRA issue

I was laid off last summer and was up to date with my COBRA payments, which I mailed to the payroll company, CheckPoint, as instructed. I sent in my January 2008 payment but have since come to find out that the group plan had been terminated, and the doctor bills from January have not been honored by Great-West Healthcare. It seems that they never received January's payment. I feel that the payroll company sent January's payment to Wagner Electric which had closed their doors. How do I go about retrieving the $382.16 that I mailed out in January?

You may want to call the Attorney General's Office in your state and see if they can help you. I imagine the company will be a dead end. Good luck.
