Default Dog Bite.. Please Help

My dog bit someone 2 days ago.. I had a guy coming over at 1:00pm to give me a price on new gutters.. I talked to him on the phone and told him to call me when he got to my house.. Around 12:30pm my girlfriend came home and let are dog out to use the bathroom.. Now i have a 6ft fence all around my house with 4 signs that say Beware of the Dog and no trespassing and 2 locking gates.. Now my griend said she heard the dog barking and went to the back door and some guy was in the gate hitting my dog with a metal pike.. She then called duke and he ran in the house.. After a second she noticed the man was bleeding on his hand.. Now he entered my yard without permission because he was 1/2 hour early and never called and opened the gate with my dog behind it barking at him.. My question is am i at fault.. I have done everything i was told to do to get my dog from getting out but what happens when the person come on your property.. Who is at fault

I can't say exactly who is at fault, because that will depend on each state's laws. I can tell you that if you are sued, your home owners policy will often cover these claims. That being said, it still may be different in your state.
