A person I know has claimed that I caused her a personal loss of future income and has told me that unless I send her money before the end of the day, I will be summoned to appear in court at 8 am the next morning, at a court in southern California which is a 7 hr drive from where I live near San Francisco. My question is: can I be summoned late this afternoon (approximately 4:30pm California time) to be in court at 8am then next day in a location 7 hrs away?
