Bladder not functioning
My wife gave birth to our daughter 7 weeks ago. Ever since she has not been able to evacuate urine. She has been using a catheter for 4 weeks and now does self catherization.
We were referred to a urologist (HMO, Kaiser). After MRI and labs and so forth he, nor the other doctors who have seen my wife, are willing to say more than just wait until the bladder resumes working. No one has or wants to pin point the exact reason why this has happened to her. We assume now that either the peridural has caused this or the fact that the doctor at the hospital neglected to empty her bladder when we told her she wan't able to urinate, saying this is normal condition and it will go away (we had to comeback to the hospital the following day to have the catherer put on).
In short, doctors seem to be pretty laid back about all this and we believe something could have been done to prevent her bladder from going dormant, which now causes her a lot of pain and suffering. We are considering lawyering up, but I'm not sure how strong of a case we might have.
Any thoughts? Thanks

If your wife have been treated by a doctor or surgeon and have been surly injured as a result of them deviating from accepted medical practices, then you may have a very valid injury claim. But it is not as simple as asking the hospital or doctor to hand over money. You have to retain the services of an experienced personal injury attorney.

To echo everyone else's thoughts- get your wife checked out by another doctor. I would also consider consulting with an attorney who specializes in medical malpractice claims. Consultations are usually free and it will help you decide how to move forward. If you do decide to fial a lawsuit, be prepared for a case like this to take some time to settle. If you find yourself becoming overwhelmed by medical bills, lawsuit funding is option. Orchard Legal Funding is company that specializes in cases like your wife's.
