    Exclamation New lease, need to get out. Haven't even moved in!

    I recently signed a lease this month for an apartment without being able to view it. I was informed that it was a 1 bedroom studio apartment (meaning it had a bedroom) and that by not viewing it, I was putting trust into these leasing agents thinking that's what I was receiving. I picked my keys up on Friday and was not able to view the apartment until Friday, late at night after work. I walked in and there was no bedroom and it was strictly a tiny studio apartment. I was misinformed. Being that it was not what I agreed to, I went to talk to the manager of the apartment complex and she has been no help and will not allow me to void the lease. I have not moved a single thing in the apartment and am very upset with the way the manager has reacted. She is being of no help to me and I am wanting to get out. I asked to terminate the lease or void the lease. She is saying that I will only possibly be able to terminate the lease and pay until it becomes rented out without occupying the apartment. Can a lease be voided? I was not able to view the apartment until the day I received my keys...what if something would have been wrong with it? ..and there is wallpaper on the walls with nail holes all over also. What to do?

    Unfortunately, yes...

    You signed the lease which is a legal document. It doesn't matter how they are treating you.

    To be honest, the best thing you can do is help them find a new renter - they could easily hold you to the full term of the lease and evict you for nonpayment.

    I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but it's the law.
