    Canadian living in the states

hi all, here is my problem. I am a canadian/italian citizen who was born in vancouver. I have been living in the u.s. for almost 20 years. 17 of those years have been on a diplomatic visa because my father worked for the italian consulate, (thats why i have been here in the states). Now the last three years i have been on a student visa and changed schools more than once and unfortunatly, i havent recieved a certificate of completion or degree of any kind. I do have a u.s. ssn and i have been working as a bartender/server ( i assume, without authorization) for the past 8 years and have been paying taxes. I dont want to return to canada and I cant even if i wanted to in fear that they will not let me re-enter the states. all i want is to live my life here and be able to visit family in canada without the fear of being stuck up there. i would like to eventually become a us citizen and am in dire need of advice seeing that my student visa has just expired. I am a law abiding contributer to society and i have never done anything illegally, any advice will help.

    many thanks,
    pippo

    Hi,

Unless you're involved with a US Citizen and getting married your path seems to be school>graduate>opt card>job>employer petitioner.
