Canadians living in the United States
Can someone please provide details of how a Canadian citizen can gain residency status in the U.S?
I am a self employed individual currently living in Florida and would like to be able to apply for a social security number as well as gain a credit history etc. here. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Two basic ways
Hi,
The two basic ways are through employment based sponsorship or family based sponsorship.
You can have an employer petition for you or, in certain circumstances, you can petition for yourself.
Alternatively, if you had a US citizen spouse they could apply for you as well.
Can you explain what you mean when you say that you're self-employed?

As a Canadian, you could apply for a TN visa or an E-2 investor visa.

If your wife is US citizen than you can easily get a citizenship in the US.
