On sunday, my son's father was shot by his ex-wife's fiancee' in a crowded parking lot, in front of the children that my son's father & his ex-wife share. The police will not charge him with anything bc he claims he acted in "self defense". (My son's father was unarmed..the two were in a verbal argument, & he jumped out of his vehicle & shot him in the leg at close range..) And we honestly beleive that this man is mentally unstable, violent, and should not be around the children (They live with him & the ex-wife..) But the judge would not grant a 50-C to keep him away from the kids bc he said the 50-C was designed for women who were in fear of domestic violence... is there any way to keep this crazy man away from my 9yr old stepdaughter & 6yr old step son?? Also, if my son's father pressed charges, and the police say they have the gun in their custody.. why would they not charge him with a crime? There were 5 eye-witnesses & several 911 calls made... please assist!! We reside in Guilford County, North Carolina.
