a company I work in, signed through my affiliation link. is this legal?

a person in a company I work for, asked me for some advice and also for a lead. (work related)
I guided him and gave him a link to a company I'm affiliated with.
He started to use his newly created account.
This in turn , started to generate a monthly revenue that is appearing under my personal account.

I have a few questions that are bothering me...
    1. is this legal?
    2. can I earn a commission in such a way?
    3. can they do anything against me if they find out?

    just to clear some things:
    • the company I work for is not affected by this commission, it is paid to be by the service provider.
    • I didn't use the money yet. I can return it at any stage.
    • I have already promoted other services and products over the net and I have been an affiliate for some time now.

I don't see even why you would think this isn't legal....

I don't see why it would be, you provided someone with information they requested and that happened to be a product\company you are an affiliate of; what do you think to be illegal about that, it's the concept of affiliate marketing to begin with

well, some people might say it's not loyal to earn money "on the back" of a company you work for...

It would be nicer and better if you are keeping some secrets inside your company so that you won't feel any guilt at all. But I think this is not illegal though.
