I pay credit card fees as a server...is this normal?
I work in a restaurant as a server and my employer is taking out 3% of all my tips to pay the credit card company fees, is this normal? Also, we do not claim our own tips, the manager/boss enters our tips for us, this has never happened since i have been working as a server is that okay for them to do?

Well, in theory they could charge a service fee since they "do" have to pay a fee via the credit card merchant; is it legal yes, is it proper... no.

I think the tips will depend on your contract. Have you read your contract before you started working?
