Ledbetter Pay Act
Congress passed and President Obama signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act!
What this means is that employees can again bring lawsuits when they find that their employers are discriminating against them by paying them less than their coworkers based on some protected category.
The Supreme Court made it nearly impossible to do this when it held that you had 180 days from the date of the discriminatory act to file a charge of discrimination. If you didn't find out about it for years that was your problem. If you're not allowed to talk about your wages at work with other employees that's your problem.
Congress stated that each paycheck is a new discriminatory act and they appear to be willing to give you up to two years of backpay as well.
Not perfect but way better than it was before!

Under the new law, workers may now bring a lawsuit for up to six months after they receive any paycheck they allege is discriminatory.

Ledbetter Fair Pay Act amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other anti-discrimination laws to clarify at which points in time discriminatory actions qualify as an unlawful employment practice.
