Question Arrested for 0.8 & then later taken to hospital for bloodwork?

My friend was stopped & registerd 0.8 BAC & taken to jail. Then after being questioned, was taken to the hospital for I guess a blood sample. Not sure whether he remembers what really happened or not, so all I can go on is his story, since this happened in another state(TX) & I can't find out for sure what took place. I was needing to find out if this is normal procedure in TX, or could they suspected he had a medical/mental problem? He swears the BAC read 0.0, but who knows? He was charged with either a DUI or DWI misdemeanor. Would like to hear others imput.

Agree...the police will do a follow up blood sample/blood work to double check the BAC at time of arrest.
