    citizen/non-citizen divorce

    can you please tell me, what happens if USA citizen spouse refuses to give a divorce to a non-citizen spouse (though he/she has a green card)? thank you!

    Most states do not require the "consent" of the other spouse to obtain a dicorce. Some states have waiting periods. However, most states are "no fault" states, meaning, the spouse only has to allege that they want a divorce based on the fact that the marriage is irretrievably broken.
