What am I going to do? I am an international student in Canada. I was handcuffed this morning by Canadian police.
This early morning I worked in the garden with a small kitchen knife to dig deep grassroots. Then I realized that I need to buy some tomatoes, and the place to sell them is just across the street. The small knife is dirty and not good for my pocket, so I carried it in my hand. I went to the place, but it is not open yet. When I was going back to my garden, I passed a tennis court. A female player was playing so skillfully. I decided to have a watch before returning to the garden. I sat there for a while before police came. The police asked me to drop the knife and belly on the ground, hands up. They handcuffed me with extra unnecessary force. Later they told me I was reported walking with a knife. I was hurt emotionally and shocked. The policeman explained that walking with a knife in public is a crime in Canada. But I do not think I created any threat to anybody. Now the thing is over, but I do not feel well. I want compensation, or at least apology from the police. Can I get the apology or compensation?
