    hawn Bentley Orphan Works Act

I am a British IP lawyer and would like your advice on the current bill that has been introduced to the Congress called Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act of 2008:

    1. This bill has been so far reported in Senate; does this mean that the bill is on its way to becoming law in the US?

    2. If so, when is it likely that this bill will become enforceable as US law, considering that the Congress is in recess until September.

Thank you for your help. S Lee

This bill is far from law at this point. It would have to pass a vote in the Senate, then the House, and then be reconciled before going to the President for his signature. For most bills, none of this ever comes to pass.

Thank you v much for your reply. I have also read that is bill is "hotlined" which aparently means that it canpass through Congress without being voted on? Is this correct or not? Thanks again
