Extended Warranty Dispute
Extended Warranty Dispute
Hi, this is my first post and I think I may need an attorney for the first time since there was internet. I hope this is the right forum for this issue.
I have had an extended warranty for over 5 years and it is 7 yrs or 75,000 miles. My '05 motorhome has 28,000 miles on it and the crankshaft suddenly broke in 3 pieces on 7-29-10.
My repair shop and I have been jumping thru all the extended warranty hoops, tearing the engine down, having them inspect the damage, give an itemized estimate for repairs ( a new engine). They won't really give me any information even though they accepted my $3500 for the policy, and say to have my shop call. My shop, a Chevrolet dealer has called repeatedly and say approval is still pending. They say it is a very expensive repair ($17,00000) and it has to go to whoever the higher ups for review and approval. He said this could be another day, another week, he has no idea.
So I sit in Limbo and the motorhome sits taking up a large indoor bay at the dealership.
Calling them is only calling the customer service call girls and of course there are no supervisors available.
I feel confident that I am covered but the only thing that I can think of for them to be dragging their feet or stalling on this issue is that maybe they are having their legal dept look and see if they can find a loophole tgo get them out of having to approve and pay for this. The shop can not start ordering parts or doing the work until they get approval. They have not approved or disapproved this claim, just seem to be taking way too long for them to say something.
Am I at their mercy or is there any recourse for me to take to do something?

If you can control yourself, anything is easy, but here's what I would recommend.
1. Know what you want, $1000? $2000?
2. Schedule it.
3. Save every penny you can
4. Get a checking account, savings account only give you 4% a year, you might as well just carefully save it up
So how do you save?
1. Budget, look over your bills, plan to spend what you spent last month this month, AND SAVE ALL ELSE
2. Always tell yourself, this dollar spent here means a dollar less for a vacation.
I hope this much helps, it's all I give for a beginner, if you have advanced questions, message me

Oh Thanks for your advice Morkel, did you even read it?
It's Ok though, I can see this place is pretty dead and useless for any good advice any way.Last edited by Max49; 08-28-2010 at 11:11 AM.
