    no signed contract

    Good day,
I was wondering, i signed up for telus tv over the phone.
i was told that I would have ten days to cancel if I was not satisfied.
four days after the hook up, it was decided that this service was not to our liking so i phoned telus to cancel.
I was told that I had ten days from the time the contract was signed to cancel not ten days after hook up, and since 11 days had passed I was not eligible to cancel.
I explained that i did not sign a contract, but was told that verbal consent is as binding as a physical piece of paper.
my question is , am I obligated to this service even though i was of the impression that the ten days was after hookup and also since i did not sign any contract.

Thanks for you assistance in this matter.

    Don

Yes, you can make a verbal agreement over the telephone for a service such as you mentioned. This is common with cable & telephone companies and they most likely recorded you agreeing to the service.
