Judgment & order of attachment question
I owned a business which I closed down last year. One of the owners of the business was involved in computer crimes so all of the bank accounts of the business as well as the personal bank accounts of myself and the 2 other owners were served with an order of attachment for the criminal and civil cases. The criminal case has been over for 2.5 years already and nothing came from the civil case. For the criminal case all of the money that was attached to the case was awarded to the plaintiff. The reason nothing came from the civil case is because the owner of the other business which brought charges against our company sold his company and never pursued anything on the civil end. With the downfall of the business, along came several judgments and tax liens. Notices were sent to existing bank accounts that any funds should be directed to pay off those judgments/liens. Those notices still do come from time to time but there have been no bank accounts in my name personally to withdraw those funds from. I am in the middle of trying to straighten things out financially and will then obtain payoffs and pay the items owed.
My question is if I open a bank account now for the purpose of cashing a 9k check, would there still be something in the system of the big banks out there that show my name was served with judgments/tax liens/order of attachments/etc. Please keep in mind I am not trying to get over on anyone and all of these items will be paid. I would just prefer to pay them as I start bringing in income and not with the only money I have left to my name. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
