Caught shoplifting. Please help me!
Hi there,
First of all, i am very sorry and and ashamed of what i am asking here. I have done a mistake and i apologise. I was caught shoplifting merchandise worth $200 in a store in canada. The police was called and i have been asked to appear in court two months from now. It is my first offence, and i have a clean record. I am over 18yrs old, a international student studying in canada. I have a study permit valid for next 3 years. I have a temporary resident visa with multiple entry. 1. I want to know, if i plead guilty, What will be the punishment. will it affect my current study permit. Will i be deported on that ground.
2.Since my court hearing date is two months from now, can i travel to my homeland and come back and attend the court. Will there be any problem at the airport.
3.I have also applied for permanent resident. Will it get affected? How can i avoid that getting affected.
Please suggest me. Any advice and suggestions will be a great help.

This is a very serious issue as you are an international student on temporary visa. My advice to you is to contact a lawyer immediately. Only a qualified Immigration Lawyer can help you in these circumstances. So contact an immigration lawyer in your in the city you are living.

Caught Shoplifting and admitting to it on a forum
If you were my client and the matter was in the judicial district of Calgary, I would simply establish who the arresting officer was and offer his supervisor a gratuity he could not refuse, in order to re-assign the police officer under him to another duty that conflicts with your court appearance date, so the member cannot attend and your matter will then be dismissed. This has worked very well for other clients in the past but it is expensive, as you the client must bear the burden of my costs as well as the cost of the gratuity offered to the police supervisor. If you don't pay, there is a very real possibility that you will be deported.
