Bankruptcy of old debt.
Ok so here is my situation. This is something I should have done years ago but never really had the money until now. I divorced my wife about 6 years ago. She was awarded the home and the car we had together. It was never stated in the divorce decree that she get it refinanced out of my name. The home is in good standing right now but the car was repossessed about 3 months after our divorce. I have tried and tried everything I could to get this woman to do something about this and she will not return my emails. She has since moved away and is renting the property to someone but a creditor contacted me about the repossession last week telling me they were going to send my collection to be judged if I did not set up some kind of payment plan by the following Monday. At the time I was not prepared to set up anything. Every time they called me back I was unavailable at work. I have no contact number with my ex-wife and I have since remarried. My current wife has not taken my name but the only thing we have together is a checking account. All other property is in her name. What can I do? I am totally lost. I have my bankruptcy papers filled out but have not contacted a lawyer yet to sit down with them.

A sum of money that is owed or due to be paid because of an express agreement; a specified sum of money that one person is obligated to pay and that another has the legal right to collect or receive.

I agree with you Fred, contacting lawyers is the best way to solve problem about bankruptcy. i suggest that Cincinnati bankruptcy lawyer is the best one to consult because we have the same case. That is what I've done to settle it.

We have similar situation before but with slight difference. Filing for bankruptcy can be the last resort and one of the best option also, particularly the chapter 7 since you have nothing left? But since I'm not a lawyer I'll say that you must seek first for personal bankruptcy attorney that is reliable and has experience with hardest debts and situation like this. I found this personal bankruptcy attorney to be really helpful with me during those times that I needed it the most. I bet they have great ideas in settling debts and bankruptcy filing.
