Do you call 911 first or your insurance company?

    San Diego Attorney

    San Diego Attorneys

Before you speak with the insurance adjuster, you should speak with an attorney. The adjusters will try to convince you your case is worth very little and offer you a quick settlement check.

An attorney can explain the legal options you have, what to expect, and what you should do. An accident and injury attorney should NOT charge you any attorney fees unless he or she wins your case.

Please visit my website and call me to set up a free consultation.

Thank you dyrah for posting it.. Many people don't know what to do when auto accidents happened, they usually panic. It's good that you posted it here.

I had my first car accident just 2 months ago and also found out that I know little about the procedure - fortunately everything went well, but after the accident I tried to find out what the best way is to handle a situation like that so that I am prepared the next time.

    Great tips.
The most important is to stay calm and get all the details you can.

    Next consult

-Get medical attention immediately for proper documentation of your possible injury.

In the next two to four days, you should then do these:

-Consult an auto collision lawyer for proper assessment of your case. Let him determine what legal actions you should pursue to obtain justice.

-Do not talk to the other party

In case of auto accident, the immediate thing to do is to check on if there are injuries and ask for help if there's any. Never give any information or remarks as it may be used against you later on.

If you are in an accident, you may want to talk to a personal injury attorney. The attorney will investigate your case to gather all the facts and the evidence of your case. Calling an attorney as soon as the accident has happened, the faster the attorney can get started investigating your case. The scene of the accident is cleaned up as soon after the accident has been reported and the policemen have gathered all the information from the scene they need to file their reports. If you wait the attorney will have a difficult time gathering evidence for your case, because it will all have been cleared away. The attorney needs the evidence to determine who was at fault and to present to the court should the need arise. If the accident was not your fault the attorney will ensure you get the correct amount of compensation from the person at fault or their insurance company.
