    What Does Insurance Claim Mean?

A formal request to an insurance company asking for a payment based on the terms of the insurance policy. Insurance claims are reviewed by the company for their validity and then paid out to the insured or requesting party (on behalf of the insured) once approved.

When insurance companies fail in that duty, when they fail to pay a claim, when they fail to act responsibly and dependably, find a highly experienced attorneys that is always there to protect you from the financial hardship that can result.

This is all good advice.. much of which most people aren't aware of. I do agree with handling very minor accidents privately with the other party. However, if you are injured at all, not only should you seek medical attention right away, but you should contact the police. It is best to have this on record. Even minor injuries such as a neck or back pain can result in long term issues. Settlements stemming from car accidents may take time to receive. If you find yourself struggling, companies like orchard legal funding, who specialize in pre-setllement funding can help.

    After an Accident

I'm not an attorney but it seems to me these comments are all true to a greater or lesser extent.

The important thing to keep in mind concerning any type of accident is you

may not necessarily know the extent of the accident - either to your

personal property or to yourself and the other party until days later.

There are precise and prudent steps one should take following an

accident in order to establish or begin to establish their own

responsibility and involvement in the accident. It is not necessarily

clear initially who the victim is regardless of appearances.

And, what may appear to be an amicable exchange between the parties at

the scene could turn ugly days later.

One should touch base with an attorney as soon as possible following an

accident in order to know what to do/say and more importantly what NOT

to do/say (particularly to insurance companies) until it is obvious

that the situation is on its way to being settled.

It does not have to cost hundreds of dollars and very often doesn't

cost anything to find out this information from an attorney. Although

attorneys are in business to make a living, they are also there to

    help.

You would be doing yourself a great favor to at least touch base with

    an attorney to find out.

Recently I was heckling my girlfriend about not wearing her seatbelt. She pointed out to me that while 60% or more of fatalities in car crashes weren't wearing seatbelts, that doesn't really mean anything without evidence that some of those fatalities would have survived if they were wearing seatbelts. I hate to admit it, but that is a good point. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Great advice, it's especially important to get checked out by a doctor if you have any pain.
