I want to terminate my parental rights.

Is it possible to terminate parental rights and responsibilities in the state of Illinois? I have a child that I want nothing to do with and do not want to have to pay support for.

I'm no lawyer, but I can't see how possible that is. It appears that in the state of IL and many other states, termination of support is at age 18; if child still in high school, support terminates at age 19 or graduation, whichever is first.

Talk to the Mother and see if she will cooperate with you. Ask her to omit your name from the birth certificate and any other legal filings. That's the only way. Good luck.

You can do nothing until you attain the age relevant and that is 18.
