Default revoking temporary guardianship. please help!!!

my wife, B (for security) birthed two girls. they are Kaitlyn (6) and courtney (8)

when courtney was born - heather did not have insurance so heather's mother and her agreed for heather to give her mother temporary guardianship of the child

bear in mind heather has always had custody of kaitlyn

over the years my wife has been in and out of the hospital and until she met me 4 years ago, was never on her own with the girls, hence she always lived at home.

now that her and I want a home and the girls, her mother (and father even though he is not on the legal paperwork) not only refuse to sign back over temp. guardianship of courtney, but they don't want to let go of kaitlyn either because they say we are not ready and that heather and I are on drugs and whatever lies they can come up with. I am a registered nurse and I travel and make good money. Heather is in paramedic school and will gradudate next year.

and B's father.... he is a cop. he controlls B's mothers decisions about what to do and he won't let those children go. He has made comments like, " you will never be a mother to those girls!" "Those are my girls!" and ," if it takes every penny out of me I will fight you all with all I have." and ,"if you get those girls you all will regret it."

if I would have had some of those threats and ultimatems on tape, he would have already lost his job as a cop.

my wife and I need help and lots of it. we need to know what is going to happen. I know that an officer will serve B's mother the papers, and I know she will not accept the revoke. then we will go to court. but then what will happen?

what will B and I have to prove to the judge? Surely he won't split them up?

help please
and thanks for reading.
