Lightbulb Tort Reform

Hello, I am researching a paper which deals with Tort Reform. A few simple questions to lawyers in this great website:

What is your opinion about Tort Reform?

Do you feel that the normal Plaintiff in a case gets overcompensated?

Why?

or

Why not?

What are your views on Compensation on Pain and Suffering?

Any and all answers are appreciated greatly. Thank you in advance.

Even though this is an attorney site and no one wants to have their pay decreased but I do think there needs to be tort reform. I think the payouts have gotten ridiculous. And I think people have become too sue happy. I don't have a problem with suing someone, but when the reason is because we can make a boatload of money and not because we need the money to pay for my hospital bills and missed work. I think there needs to be limits especially when it comes to medical malpractice. When you have great doctors having to quit their private practice or having to elect not to do any more surgeries because their mal-practice insurance costs almost half of their salary; something needs to be done.
